This website is run by me, Catherine Pope. I recently completed a PhD on Florence Marryat at the University of Sussex. I’m now turning my thesis into a monograph on feminism in Marryat’s novels and also writing a biography of her.
Please do email me if you have any suggestions, amendments or questions. I would be delighted to hear from anyone with an interest in Marryat.
I currently teach Victorian literature at the University of Brighton and run digital research skills workshops at the University of Sussex. In my spare time, such as it is, I’m the managing editor at Victorian Secrets, a independent press dedicated to publishing books from and about the nineteenth century. So far we have published three of Marryat’s novels: The Dead Man’s Message, Her Father’s Name, and The Blood of the Vampire. Love’s Conflict is currently in progress, and a couple more are in the pipeline.
I also maintain a more general blog on Victorian literature, in which Marryat makes regular appearances.
